We recognise that software is most useful when it is able to integrate with other software systems.

The Orovia development team provide the functionality to link BPS to all the main providers of finance systems.

This flexibility and capability means that an increasing number of Local Authorities are using BPS as the budget planner of choice for their schools.

The linking of BPS provides the following benefits:

  • allows the schools to upload their original/approved budgets into the school's finance system
  • has the funcionality to take actual spend from the school finance system and import the realised figures back into BPS for budget monitoring
  • with the use of a central payroll system, Local Authorities can upload all the staff directly into BPS during the initial setup

As the transfer of information is electronic, this is a great time saving facility and also eliminates the inaccuracies of manual data entry.

We provide the means of linking our software for budget upload and monitoring with the following suppliers of finance systems:

A number of Local Authorities supporting their schools with BPS use SAP as their finance and payroll systems, including:

  • Oxfordshire County Council
  • Worcestershire County Council
  • Sunderland City Council
Capita Sims

Capita Sims

Local Authorities using BPS whose schools use Capita SIMS as their finance system include:

  • East Riding of Yorkshire County Council
  • Brent City Council
  • South Gloucestershire

Of particular benefit is the budget monitoring functionality in BPS which takes an import file from FMS in Sims and compares actual spend in school against budget in BPS and reports on variances and outturn.

RM Finance

RM Finance

North Yorkshire County Council schools use RM Finance as their accounting package, and all 375 schools supported by the central finance team use BPS as their budget planner. Importing actuals from RM Finance on a monthly or termly basis, allowing comparison between actual spend and the original budget.
